Social media and wellbeing – Vrai, faux ou flou ?

Do social media encourage aggression and anti-social behaviour? Do social media just stress us out and make us anxious? On social media, we’re constantly comparing ourselves to others – doesn’t that destroy our self-esteem? Laure-Emeline Bernard, who holds a PhD in Information and Communication Sciences, helps us make sense of it all. A senior lecturer at the Institut Méditerranéen des Sciences de l'Information et de la Communication (IMSIC) and at the Aix Marseille Université Institute of Technology (IUT), Laure-Emeline completed her PhD in November 2025 on the use of social media in relation to well-being. Her research focuses in particular on interpersonal interactions on digital social networks and in online multiplayer video games.
