Bronze Ceiling is a podcast series by HerStory Maps, a citizen science project aimed at cataloging feminist memorial sites (such as statues, trees, and murals) around the world. In each episode, Marc Calvini-Lefebvre of Aix-Marseille University uncovers the stories behind these sites of remembrance through interviews with artists, activists, and historians who know them well and understand how they have managed to break through the “bronze ceiling” of public commemoration.
The Bronze Ceiling podcast is part of the HerStory project, which aims to highlight the footprint of women in history in cities across Europe. HerStory aims to develop a transnational map that will feature important women in politics and society as well as in sciences and the arts while bringing to light important historical moments in which women’s action was determinant.
The Bronze Ceiling podcast forms part of the HerStory Maps project, which aims to highlight the impact women have had on the history of European cities. HerStory Maps aims to develop, with contributions from the general public, an interactive and educational map of places of remembrance dedicated to feminist movements around the world.
