This very first TEDxAixMarseilleUniversité conference took place on Thursday October 12, 2023 at the Institut national supérieur du professorat et de l'éducation in Aix-en-Provence, on the theme of "From spark to light".
A brief history of the project
The project to organize a TEDxAixMarseilleUniversité conference was launched in the summer of 2022 by a team of enthusiastic university staff. Coordinated by the Vice-President of Research and the Communications Department, the aim of the conference was to put the spotlight on those who make the university strong: researchers, students and administrative staff.
TEDxAixMarseilleUniversité was designed to unite the university community in a spirit of openness and sharing.
From spark to light
Following the celebration of the university's 10th anniversary in 2022 on the theme of light, Aix-Marseille Université chose to continue shedding light on the personalities who make the university what it is, by choosing the theme "From spark to light".
For almost two hours, seven captivating personalities led the hundred or so people in attendance on a voyage of discovery of real-life experiences that illustrate how a simple action or thought can result in major advances, both scientific and human.
Speakers that evening included:

- Flora Jouët, L3 Psychology student and President of the ATYPIK'AMU association, whose talk was entitled: Snoezelen room and disability: emancipating students.
- Isabelle Régner, university professor in social psychology and vice-president for gender equality and anti-discrimination, with her speech entitled: Stereotypes: powerful cognitive biases.
- Christophe Menichetti, Polytech Marseille alumnus, now Artificial Intelligence solutions architect - HP Entreprises Pre-Sales, who spoke on the subject of AI for greater social progress.
- Vincent Vidal, professor of medicine, specialized in interventional radiology, who talked about his FairEmbo project , fair embolization.
- Elyes Abassi, a student in the M2 Educational Engineering program at INSPE and company founder, in his talk entitled: " I based my life on a metaphor".
- Marion Couturier, a student in the sciences and humanities degree program and top-level sportswoman, with her talk entitled: Top-level sport: using failure to succeed.
In the run-up to the event, they benefited from the coaching of Olivier Chabrol, who also coached doctoral students in the Ma thèse en 180 secondes competition, to help them prepare their speeches. The evening was hosted by journalist Alexandra Galdon.
Congratulations to everyone for their involvement!
