In January, the European Research Council (ERC) announced the winners of the 2021 Starting Grants, which provide substantial funding for projects by young researchers who obtained their doctorate between 2 and 7 years ago. This is the first type of European funding available to them, and can represent a contribution of up to 1.5 million euros to carry out a research project over a maximum period of 5 years.
