Climate change research rewarded

In 2021, the award was won by the Mediterranean Expert Network on Climate and Environmental Change (MedECC) for the first-ever scientific assessment of the impact of climate and environmental change on the Mediterranean basin. Wolfgang Cramer (Institut Méditerranéen de Biodiversité et d'Ecologie marine et continentale, IMBE, AMU/CNRS/IRD/Avignon Université) and Joël Guiot (Centre Européen de Recherche et d'Enseignement des Géosciences de l'Environnement, CEREGE, AMU/CNRS/IRD/INRAE/Collège de France), representatives of the MedECC, received the award from Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal.

The MedECC is made up of over six hundred scientists from 35 Mediterranean and European countries involved in environmental research and policy planning.
